Prana Power
CONNECTION: WITHIN AND WITHOUT
In this workshop, we will look deeply into Prana (energy). We will put a big emphasis and practice on Pranayama (breathing techniques) looking at three stages of respiration: Inhalation (Pooraka), Retention (Kumbhaka) and Exhalation (Rechaka).
With the breath being the life force and so intimately connected with all the functions, cells and organs of the physical body as well as the emotional and mental bodies, by controlling, clearing and energising the breath we also influence all these dimensions on a highly positive level.
We will meditate on mantra! Sound is a form of energy. Specific mantras may be used in pranayama to create the rhythm of inhalation, retention and exhalation. The Gayatri Mantra represents cosmic prana; it is comprised of 24 syllables which contain the entire form of prana. We will look at the connection between mindfulness, breath and universal energy as we move through our asana (posture) practice. To allow your body to absorb the fine tuning it has just received you will rejuvenate in a blissful yoga Nidra for deep relaxation.
