Kitchen/Cafe Staff Wanted
The elbowroom is looking for a for a new colleague with a passion for Vegetarian food to prepare food & juices according to the menu on evenings and weekends.
- The cook must be able to follow instructions and deliver well-prepared food & juices
- They must be friendly to clients and serve with great customer service skills
- They must be deft in moving around the kitchen and be able to multi-task
- Experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques is also important
- They will be tasked with preparing, serving and tidying up
Staff Goals
- The goal is to help preserve and enhance our reputation so we can expand our clientele
Working Hours
- Predominately weekends, 9 am – 4 pm (Sat & Sun) or weekdays, 9 am – 2 pm
- Candidate should be flexible
Responsibilities
- Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
- Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, etc.)
- Prepare finished dishes including, tarts, bread, salads, cakes & juices
- Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
- Maintain a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
- Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
- Check quality of ingredients
- Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages
- Serve clients
Requirements
- A passion for vegetarian cooking is a must
- 2 years proven experience as a cook
- Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware
- Knowledge of various cooking & juicing procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
- Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Excellent communication skills
