Career Change? It Worked For Me!

I work in a job that challenges me every day. A job where I need to use my body and mind in equal measure. A job that benefits me hugely not just financially but in other ways too. It’s a job that allows me to bring my kids to school and collect them and be there for them, for homework, hearing about their day and to cook the dinner.

My job is one which puts me in touch with wonderful, inspirational people every day of the week. I work in a field I am passionate about, doing something I really believe in. I work for myself, I pick and chose my hours and my commute.

I Am a Pre & Postnatal Yoga Teacher

After the birth of my second baby, I took a career change. I wanted to move away from the hectic and stressful world of media and do something I believed in, where I could still challenge myself, earn a bit of money but more importantly be around for my kids.

I’m a passionate believer in the benefits of relaxation techniques for birth, and having used hypnobirthing to birth both my babies I trained up as a hypnobirthing instructor. I was long since bitten by the yoga bug, so it was always my plan to train up as a pre and postnatal yoga teacher too. I just needed a course.

Here’s Why I Chose The elbowroom Course

  1. Melissa Curtis. After my first baby was born I went to Melissa Curtis for Mum & Baby Yoga Classes. Melissa is an amazing teacher. You can’t help but feel confident and empowered after her classes (even if you’re a first-time mum and doubting prenatal-yogayourself is your new special talent!)
  2. I had considered putting a cushion on my top and pretending when I realised the birth of my baby meant I couldn’t go to pregnancy yoga in the elbowroom anymore. Amazing teachers, amazing classes.
  3. The elbowroom ethos. The elbowroom is not just a great yoga studio.  It’s a great yoga studio with a soul and a conscience. The elbowroom passionately believes in the power of women, the physiological process of birth, and the undisputed facts of science. They don’t just teach yoga, they teach trainees how to empower, support and believe in women and their natural ability to birth. This is not about teaching a fitness class. It’s about helping women tap into their own incredible ability, strength, and stamina.

Spending Time With My Kids

These days I work enough to make the living I need to but I’m still able to be around for my 3 young kids. I absolutely love my work and I’m working within my community teaching pregnancy yoga, mum & baby yoga, and active birthing partner workshops.

If you are passionate about helping and empowering women and are looking for a change in career or something to complement an existing career, I can’t recommend this course enough. It’s life changing stuff!

Our next Pregnancy Teacher Training course starts September 2018. For more information about how you can become a Pregnancy Yoga Teacher please email or call 01 677 9859
