4 Great Resolutions For Breastfeeding

Tips for breastfeeding

Here are some top resolutions for easing into breastfeeding to make life easier for you. We will give you all the information you need and more in at our breastfeeding workshop taking place Sunday 29th September.

  • Sleep when your baby sleeps. Sleep deprivation is exhausting. Get sleep when you can. Sleep in separate beds from any parter if it means you both get sleep.
  • Keep hospital visitors to the bare minimum. Breastfeeding can be tricky and you don’t want to be disturbed. So having unexpected interuptions when your baby is feeding is not helpful. Also at home for the first couple of weeks, again I would recommend to keep visitors away. And even if they do come insist they bring or do something useful such as food or clean your house.
  • Ask people to get you a couple of really nice PJ’s instead of wee baby clothes. Hanging around the house looking and feeling good is much nicer than slobbing about in old track suits with fluff hanging off.
  • Keep snacks and drinks in any place you are going to feed your baby. In the bedroom, sitting room, kitchen. 2 litre bottles of water are handy to have in each place and snacks with complex carborhydrates – wholemeal flapjacks for instance, rice cake with almond butter.

“I found doing an independent Breast feeding workshop in the elbowroom so informative. As a result I feel so much more assured and confident that I will Breast feed. Really simple tips like how to get a good latch, knowing the signs and cues that baby is feeding well and how to spot early signs of infection to prevent mastitis made me feel prepared and informed. I highly recommend this workshop to all expectant mothers.” Moya Sheilds attended our last workshop and is expecting her first baby which is due any day !!!!
