Don’t wait until January to kick start your healthy living
“I’ll get fitter in January”, famous last words eh? This year why not try and be the best person you can before the clock strikes 12 on the 31st December. Keeping fit and active during the Christmas period means you’re less inclined to over indulge in the festive season. If you’re staying active there’ll be more of a chance of you reaching for the box of chocolates once on Christmas day and putting it back down. It also means your metabolism won’t drop off the face of the planet, healthy snacks will keep you going each day.
Here’s some tips to help you keep control over December
Recruit a buddy – It’s much easier to stay healthy if you have a partner in crime. Buddy up with a pal and book some classes together. It’s harder to not attend if you know someone else will be there to get you through it.
Have an Activities & Nutrition Plan – Here’s a fantastic tip. Plan, plan, plan and then plan some more. If you have a plan to stay active and to eating healthy you’re more likely to stay focused. Pencil your Yoga or Pilates classes into your diary at the start of each week. You can also make a weekly lunch and dinner plan
Get Out Of The House – Make sure you still try to get out of the house even when it’s wet and cold. People tend to cut down on their outdoor activities such as walking, running and cycling. All these activities will help you maintain your good health during the winter months. If you’re finding it too cold you can take a class or a workshop. Just don’t spend the winter glued to your couch!
Get a good night’s sleep – In your diary, block off one or two evenings each week during the winter months for an early night. According to studies it could help you lose weight and improve your mental health.
The elbowroom will be running beginners courses in Yoga and Pilates starting on Wednesday the 25th November which means you’ll be able to feel great throughout the whole of December and into the New Year.
